Jimmy Kimmel tricked people at Coachella into professing their love for bands that don’t exist, and it is absolutely hysterical.

this just proves that a lot of people go to festivals to look cool rather than going because they like the bands

Or these are people trying to fit in because they are otherwise labeled as “uncool” for not knowing every single band playing. There’s this social stigma that if you aren’t familiar with certain things, you are automatically labeled as unpopular, uncool, or otherwise less than others. Did you see the lineup for Coachella 2013? There are a lot of fucking bands there, and even I didn’t know all of them. And I wouldn’t have cared about knowing all of them, because you don’t go to prove your knowledge of things, you go to enjoy yourself. You go and you learn about these bands you might not’ve listened to before, and you come together with a bunch of people to enjoy music, not knowledge of that music. It’s sad that these people feel like they have to lie to be viewed positively, and that Jimmy Kimmel would take advantage of their enthusiasm and that need to be viewed positively. 

The judging going on right now is what drives people to lie like that. It’s gross.
